About This Project

On March 29th, 2026, a Vietnam Veterans Day commemoration was held at Wichita’s Veterans Memorial Park, in front of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  The guest speaker was Duane Loeck, a Vietnam-era Air Force Veteran who was a B-52 crew member during that time.  Duane spoke about Operation Linebacker, which utilized a large number of B-52 aircraft to strike targets in North Vietnam during that mission.  Bryson Allen was the Master of Ceremonies and Tom Huxtable was the Chaplain.  The American Legion Post 4 Honor Guard provided the 3-volley rifle salute and the Colors were presented by a Wichita JROTC Middle School team.  Don Hansen and John Noonan were the Buglers who played the National Anthem, Amazing Grace and Taps.  —  Photos are courtesy of Mike Nash.
