About This Project

This ceremony was held at the Operation Freedom Memorial and honored and remembered all those Americans who served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The sidewalk into the park to the Memorial was lined with American flags courtesy of American Legion Post 4.

A McConnell AFB color guard presented the colors while Park bugler John Noonan played The National Anthem on the trumpet.

Former US Army medic, SGT Heather Cochran, was the main speaker and related her experiences during Gulf War I. Anita Dixon who helped champion the Operation Iraqi Freedom Memorial spoke about the memorial.

A rifle team from the Air Capital Marine Corps League fired a gun salute then the ceremony closed with the bugler playing “Taps.”
