About This Project

At 10:00 am on September 11th, 2025 in Veterans Memorial Park, a commemoration was held at the Operation Freedom Memorial on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our country.  This event also served to remind us of the subsequent sacrifices made by Veterans who served in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to combat terrorism.  Guest Speaker Noah Taylor — who was then a middle-school student — decided shortly after 9/11 to serve his country in the Army when he was old enough.  In his talk he elaborated the reasons for his decision, reminding all of us that Americans rose to the occasion and met the challenges in front of them.

The McConnell AFB Honor Guard (22nd ARW) presented the colors, the American Legion Post 4 Honor Guard provided the rifle salute and buglers John Noonan and Don Hansen played the National Anthem, Amazing Grace and closed the ceremony by sounding Taps.
