About This Project

At 8:00 am on December 7th, 2024 a commemoration was held at Wichita’s Veterans Memorial Park to recognize the 83rd anniversary of the 1941 Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  The event began when “8 bells” was sounded on the Park’s bell, which was donated by the citizens and veterans of Milan Kansas.  Bugler Don Hansen played the National Anthem, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and an Invocation by Tom Huxtable.  Tom then placed a commemorative wreath and the Master of Ceremonies gave a brief talk on the significance of the anniversary.  Don Hansen played the Navy Hymn which was followed by a 3-volley rifle salute carried out by the American Legion Post 4 Honor Guard.  The event concluded with the sounding of Taps.
