About This Project

Since its opening on Veteran’s Day, 1977, Wichita’s Veteran’s Memorial Park recognizes and honors the sacrifices of veterans throughout history. Located on the eastern bank of the Arkansas River, the memorial park includes over 15 memorial statues, pavilions, and parks to honor the sacrifices of American veterans.

Park visitors can fully experience the United States’ history of war with a tour of the park. Originally designated as two parks: Park Plaza “A” and the John S. Stevens Veterans Memorial, the land was given to the Board of Park Commissioners by the City of Wichita in 1980.
