About This Project

The 2021 Wreaths Across America kicked off in Wichita, Kansas with an 11 a.m . ceremony occurring simultaneously with other WAA ceremonies around the country. This local ceremony was centered on the Park’s Flag Pavilion and included:

  • Flag-lined entry sidewalk to the Park’s Flag Pavilion
  • Introduction and opening remarks
  • Chaplain invocation
  • Color guard presentation of The Colors
  • 8 wreaths mounted (1 for each branch of US military including the new US Space Force and for POWs-MIAs)
  • A wreath mounted at each Memorial in the Park
  • Tribute to late WVMP Board Chairman Charles “Skip” Ward by former Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell
  • Memorial wreath launch in the Arkansas River
  • 21-gun salute
  • “Taps” played on the trumpet
