About This Project

On September 18th at 10:00 am, the Veterans Memorial Park Board commemorated National POW/MIA Recognition Day at Wichita’s Veterans Memorial Park.  Master of Ceremonies and Speaker Rick Lowrey (representing Rolling Thunder Inc.) explained the history and significance of this day.  On display was the Missing Man Table, which symbolizes and bears witness to the continued absence of those still unaccounted for.  This event included the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation.  After the speaker’s remarks, a bugler played Amazing Grace, followed by a 3-volley rifle salute by American Legion Post 4 and the sounding of Taps.
