In 2017 President Trump designated March 29th as National Vietnam Veterans Day. This was the last day – in 1973 – when US combat troops left South Vietnam. In recognition of Vietnam Veterans, a brief ceremony was held at noon on March 29 at WVMP’s Vietnam War Veterans Memorial.
Emcee Bryson Allen, himself a Vietnam vet, opened the ceremony asking everyone to stand for the National Anthem. This was followed by an invocation. VN vets Steve Oschner, Ron Adame and Ron Bogard gave talks about their experience in Vietnam.
The ceremony concluded with a gun salute provided by the Air Capital Detachment of the Marine Corps League and “Echo Taps” played on the trumpet.
