Victory over the Empire of Japan (VJ Day) Commemoration

Known as “Victory over Japan Day,” or simply “VJ Day,” the term is used to refer to September 2, 1945. On that date, the Empire of Japan’s formal surrender took place aboard the U.S.S. Missouri, anchored in Tokyo Bay.  (SOURCE: History.com, V-J Day.)

WVMP will hold a brief ceremony at the Park’s World War Two Memorial (“Kilroy”) and will include:

  • Chaplain Invocation
  • Speaker
  • Gun Salute
  • Bugler
