D-Day Commemoration: 80th Anniversary

On June 6th, 2024 at Wichita’s Veterans Memorial Park, the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion will be commemorated at 9:00 am, in front of the WWII Memorial.  The National Anthem will be played to start the event, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, an opening prayer and placement of a wreath.  Following brief remarks by the Master of Ceremonies to speak about of the significance of the event, the closing prayer will be followed by the sounding of Taps.  The event is open to the public, but no seating will be provided.  Guests who wish to sit should bring their own lawn chairs.
