2026 D-Day Commemoration at Veterans Memorial Park

On Saturday, June 6th, 2026, the Veterans Memorial Park Board will hold a brief ceremony to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of France which initiated the liberation of France from the Nazi occupation. The event will begin at 9:00 am and will be located at the World War II Memorial in the Park. The sequence of events will include the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation and brief remarks explaining the historical significance of the D-Day invasion. A bugler will play “Amazing Grace” and sound “Taps” to conclude the event. This commemoration is open to the public but since it will be short in duration, no seating will be provided.
